This image appeared on my Twitter feed a little while ago, which I promptly retweeted, but I thought that it was worth a little blog post as well.
This image is apparently meant to be a way to show the terrible things that could happen if women were given the vote, though I think personally I would be happy to frequent such a place (perhaps minus the children!) It seems to have become quite the internet sensation, with a lot of retweeting and comments. A great blog post has been written on the image here http://theappendix.net/blog/2014/2/why-not-go-to-the-limit which is definitely worth a read, but I thought I would join the club and add my own thoughts as to why I personally think this bar seems like an awesome place to be
1. No drunken men trying to make conversation, not that this is always a bad thing, but sometimes a change is nice!
2. You can smoke inside! No other nasty smells when the smells of cigarettes take over. Of course, smoking is only recently banned inside and this image (from 1908) is most definitely from an era when smoking inside was OK
3. Free Lunch! Which apparently was a thing in the early twentieth century, but it’s worth a note now. There’s also a sign which says ‘ladies please refrain from throwing cigar butts in the free lunch’
4. Everyone is wearing a very awesome hat. They are, afterall, ladies!
